This is a cut-sheet catalogue page from José María Mora’s photographic studio in New York City at 707 Broadway. Clients would visit his studio, choose from his extensive catalog of notable personalities, and purchase cabinet card size images.
Mora (1847–1926) was a Cuban-American portrait photographer active during the 1870s and 1880s. He trained with celebrity photographer Napoleon Sarony and, after two years, founded his own studio, becoming a friendly rival to his former mentor. He specialized in photographing Gilded Age celebrities, including actors, opera singers, writers, and prominent members of New York City Society.
