Mobsters, San Francisco, Manipulated Press Photo,1931

Several San Francisco drug trafficking mobsters cover their faces on the way to arraignment. This original press crime photograph is not only overpainted but also has several images pasted together to create this unique multimedia artwork. The original newspaper print is on the back. This is an excellent example of man ipulated photography.

On Back: April 2, 1931 Here are some of the eleven asserted “Big Shots” of the San Francisco dope traffic, shown as they were being taken before the U.S. commissioner for arraignment. The suspects hid their faces from the camera. Agents say the group did $1,000,000  annual business. Below is James Kelly, one of the accused.
