Yousef Karsh (1908–2002) was an Armenian-Canadian legendary portrait photographer. He produced the ‘definitive’ portrait of many of the great men and women who shaped the twentieth century. He masterfully captured the essence of his subjects. Once saying, “Within every man and woman, a secret is hidden, and as a photographer, it is my task to reveal it if I can.” Karsh’s iconic photograph of Winston Churchill is on the British five-pound banknote.
